I would have posted this in "Going Pro" but I am not enrolled in any professional courses, so I can't.

I was wondering what people thought of course like this:

23 days and $4200 to take you all the way from OW to Instructor.

I suspect no one here will think this is a good idea because you would end up being an instructor with about 30 dives. However, it seems like a good way to get in a ton of instruction in a short time. You could round it out with some more practical dives before actually starting instruction.

I'm interested in hearing opinions on this. For the dive shop owners, would you hire someone who was qualified thought a course like this, without a lot of dives under their belt?

Even with as few dives as I have, I have been able to learn that much of what you learn in diving is from experiential dives in different conditions. It seems tempting, but I wouldnt want to take any classes from you after following this path. Just cause you can buy the instructor card doesnt mean you are qualified, and instead of worrying about if you can get hired, you should worry about the education you can provide your students.

just my 2 cents as a student myself.

Without getting into the specifics of the program, I will only note that you cannot become a PADI (or any other agency that I'm aware of) instructor in 23 days and with only 30 dives.

I believe PADI requires a minimum of 100 dives to certify at the instructor level ... which is still abysmally low, to my concern, but that same minimum requirement is shared by a number of different agencies ...

Bob's right... but if you look at the required 100 dives then that works out to 4 dives a day.

This is damn near impossible, for 23 days + theory.

I've had a look at the website, but don't see the OW -> Instructor... I see the AOW... don't know how many days that is.

As for employement... depends where you will apply. If it's abroad in a holiday destination, the only important thing is languages. If you're **** at teaching and are upsetting the clients, you won't last long... but it doesn't really matter what route you did your training through. Sad, but true.

Will you be a good instructor? Probably not as you won't have any real-world experiences to draw from in 23 days.

By all means skip through the foundation courses... OW, AOW, Rescue etc... but pause at DM and take it all in... it'll be the most important course you do. Then go do the IDC.

You won't be an instructor you'll be an AI, you still haven't passed the IE at this point.
You’ll need 100 logged dives to take the Instructor Exams

Unless you have a course director to vouch for you then you can do it early.

You need 100 to put put into teachig status AFTER he IE though.

There is also the "6 months" rule to stop nothing to instructor.

And yes i also think both these limits are ridiculously low.

I've seen these instructors and the PADI equivalent. They are terrible divers and even worse instructors. Go to the Keys, you can't throw a stone without hitting a few of these people working for less than minimum wage.

Ask yourself this question- would you allow someone you really cared for to be trained in Scuba diving by an instructor who had only been diving for 23 days?
