I hear ya CODMAN :rofl3: Wish I could REALLY disconnect too...unfortunately my sister and I share duties taking care of my elderly dad and it wouldn't be fair for me to stay gone that long. But it's definitely on my "TO DO" list for the future:D:D:D

That's amazing Diva. Hats off to you! :coffee:

Defintely if one day you get the chance, do it. I went to the Philippines for 5 weeks to do my rescue and DM course. 5 weeks, dove every day I was there... At the end I couldn't remember where I worked or lived... :cool2: All I knew is I didn't want the vacation to end... :D I have rarely in my life "disconnected" for real day to day life like that and I strongly suggest it to everyone at least once in their lives!:coffee:

I would really love to go to Roatan for 2 weeks! One week at CCV, the other week down on west end. :D It's on my list of future trips. Even better would be to add another week on for a hop over to Utila. :D

My husband and I just returend from 2 weeks at Fantasy Island. It was great. Carlos in the hotel and Everyone in the dive shop was great. I think that 2 weeks is just right. 1 week is too little but I just can't be away from work for more than that. Have a great time!

I don't mean this post to pick any fights. I have never been to FIBR other than riding by it on a boat. But does anybody know what it is that they are spraying or fogging with every morning to minimize the noseeums? Most pesticides that I am aware of are not intended for that frequent of an application and I would assume there is significant bioaccumulation in the environment if they are using it every day.

I only ask because whenever you point out there are noseeums in Roatan, everybody who has been to FIBR quickly points out how often they spray/fog for them as if it is a totally positive thing, I am sure mostly without considering whether it is such a good thing for the surrounding ecosystem. Anybody know what they are using?

?

I am sure if you as at the office they will inform you it is one of those environmentally eco safe all natural products that hurts nothing at all and only keeps the biting bugs away.

Yeah, that is why I would rather have an actual product name where I could look up a list of what is in it. Don't get me wrong...there are several pesticides that are very low toxicity to humans, very low impact on the environment, and become inert on contact with water...when used as directed. But I can't think of any that are labeled for broad applications on a daily basis. Then again, I don't have encyclopedic knowledge of pesticides, so maybe they are using one designed for that application.

Aggie, you probably don't want to know what they are using. And I'll bet a weeks pay that they aren't using one of those high tech, minimise impact on ecosystems and humans while maintaining high efficiency, type of pesticides... This is Honduras we are talking about... Many poor countries around the world still use DDT and other dangerous products (can't speak for Honduras, but many other do) because they have no legislation to prevent this... And rich pesticide enterprises have tons of these products left over and gladly sell it to them...

I can't speak for FIBR, but I'd find it highly unlikely that they invest considerable sums for the product they spray...

I'm like you; I don't think fogging in the morning is a good thing...:shakehead: I'd much rather just have to put on some non-toxic bug repellent...

Just my 0.02$:coffee:
