Well, I've reached 50 years of life and show little sign of slowing down my interest in diving. It's odd to say I've been doing this for 25 years. I'm betting I'll still be diving at 60, 70? and maybe beyond. What is it about this activity that becomes such a big part of your life?

Began diving at 50 here :D

You should consider slowing down at 80 years old give or take!

50 was over a decade ago and I'm still enjoying my dives. I'll need to renew my 5 yr fishing/lobster license in July (optimism).

The guy that docked his sailboat in the canal near me recently quit, he was 75 and they put him on blood thinners. He decided it was time. He started as a commercial diver in the early 1960's up in NY. He said he came down to FL, saw the water and never went back.

I'm 58 and still diving ... in fact, I'm planning a dive to 240 fsw tomorrow to visit a wreck I haven't seen yet.

Started at 51 -- I'm 55 now, and headed down to Mexico for nine days of cave diving starting Wednesday! Nothing I've ever done in my life compares with swimming through those underground cathedrals.

On air? Just kidding, Bob. :D
I'm 54 and still trying to dive. More free diving nowadays though. As long as I'm in the water every week life is good.

In my case I was probably fitter at 50 than in the previous 40 years. That's about when I decided it was time to change my sedentary life-style.

Wait a minute!

Given that today is your birthday - and I'm assuming you haven't done any dives today - you technically stopped diving when you were 49.

Hopefully your recent advancement to being a quintogenarian will not dissuade you from picking diving up again.

:shocked2:

PS - why did you post "50 and Diving" in the "Non-Diving Related Stuff" forum? (Dimished congnitive function secondary to advanced age?)

We have a similar profile. I have been diving about 4 years and I am just back from Mexico.

Diving those underground cathedrals has me hooked for good. 10 days of it in March just gave me the urge to go back. Wish I was there.

I turned 59 in January.

I had a video clip made by Karst_Diving here on Scubaboard (Pietro Donnagio).
Fantastic job, full HD work. He teams up with a very talented assistant. She takes care the lighting and the results are very slick and professional.
