So how do you go about this business? Call local golf fields and tell them you are coming to dive the pond their pond?

yeah... like all those local golf courses haven't already had contracts for the past 20-30 years... :shakehead:

This is not a "new frontier". It's already been conquered. Long before this thread even started.

So NOT cool when so MANY people are without jobs these days. I just joined this site and already my heart is broken:(

Sea Hound there are a couple ways to get started. You can get contracts with local golf courses to dive their ponds or you can go through a company with existing contracts. mike s, it depends on where you are. There are many golf courses that have never seen a diver before, especially in the northern part of the country. I personally would recommend getting a contract with an established company to get started. It is a lot easier than trying to compete with everyone else at the beginning. You will probably want to contract with a few companies to get enough work to make the money that you want. After you learn the business the sky is the limit. Because of all the legal liabilities these days legitimate divers have have contracts with each course that they dive. In my business, I had contracts with 2 different companies, and I had planned on more. If you get your own golf courses, you will need to figure out how to compensate the courses for your time. That's right, I said it, you actually pay the golf course to dive their ponds. The companies that I dealt with usually paid 5 cents per ball to a new course and more for an established course contract with a good yield of higher end balls.

Which business? Diving for golf balls? Or selling divers on the idea that they can get rich diving for golf balls?

:shark:Yeah, Mike on the Graphics! Very Monty Python. You made my day!

OK, I'm gonna call 'em on this one. I live in Las Vegas, out of work, PADI AOW cert with 31 dives. Looks to be about what the OP has. Own all my own gear, two AL80's primed to go. My cell is off now, no income, but feel free to PM me with the details. I look forward to making a few bucks.
