I'm the original poster on this thread. The links I had in the first post have changed, but for some reason, I cannot edit them. Anyway, here is the updated link to the videos without the red filter (in my post #1 above):
Youtube videos (select the ones from Sipadan) - no red filter
On my last dive trip, I started using the Red Filter setting on the camera. I also purchased the Auto Magic Filter. Here are the results:
2010 Feb Similan videos - using red filter
Note: On 13 Feb, I used the red filter software on the camera. On 14 Feb, halfway through the day, I switched from the software camera setting to the Auto Magic Filter. O 15 Feb I used the Auto Magic Filter inside the housing. And on 15 Feb, dive 4 was at 5:00pm so that is what accounts for the darker video.
I'm not convinced that the Auto Magic Filter does better than the red filter software setting on the camera. But a big thanks to bfisher for getting me to use a red filter!!
Footnote: I did not do ANY editing of these videos, I try to be selective in what I shoot (doesn't always work) and then I simply paste the segments all together into one file. I look at the length of the video then find a song on my ipod that is about that length. Time on the computer creating the finished video is literally about 5 minutes.
