Thanks for all of the great advice. We're booked to go to Curacao June 26-July 3. Thanks for everyone's help.

Hey, I may see you there. I'm looking at going either 6/26 or 6/28 to 7/5. Still debating on where to stay whether it'll be at Breezes or the Marriott.

As YOU already know, Tom and Is, any time in Curacao is a great time ;)

But specifically 4 July celebrations are few and far between, I have to say. If I know Curacao Sunshine, she might be planning something and she's frequently on scubaboard so may be able to help you out.

I know some of you posters have already been in touch with us - many thanks indeed, much appreciated - but if any of the rest of you guys have questions, as Tom says, drop me an email and I'll do my best to answer them.

One of the main questions seems to be whereabouts on the island to stay, so you might find this page on our website useful as a starter for 10 (or not!):
The Dive Bus - Where to stay in Curacao

Hope to be meeting some of you guys soon :)

All best and happy planning,
Suzy
The Dive Bus - HOME

report when you get back in April.

Back from CUR. Had an awesome time with Team Dive Bus. Made multiple shore dives @
Pierbaai
Varsenbaai
Porto Marie
Playa Kalki
Tugboat
Just some of our favorites. All great dives.
Again, we had no problems at Breeze's (6th time). Room 8122 recently redone. Great location being lower floor, oceanfront, far west end of resort. Made an easy trip to Dive Bus by just walking around resort wall rather than all the way around thru lobby. Only one week this time, which went very fast, but we still did all that we wanted to do. We'll spend more beach time next trip. Did Playa Kalki dive from OE west pier. Very nice facility. Already planning August 2011!!!!:cool2:

Update on 4th July for some of you guys - we've decided to arrange our own celebration here in Curacao, out West for the day. Diving with The Dive Bus and BBQ-ing with Curacao Sunshine :)

Go here for more info on this and pricing/packaging The Dive Bus - 4th July specials with The Dive Bus, Curacao! - and don't forget to bring your own appropriate headwear ... it's a Dive Bus thing, you'll see... :)

Hope to see some scubaboarders there, if not before.

All best!
Suzy

Been there awhile ago in 2003, but the dives we liked the most were the 3 adjacent sites, Plaia Shon Mosa, Plaia Mansalina, and...forgot the name of the 3d one. Anyway, these sites are less than 0.5K from each other. Back then we had to pay 5 bucks for the entrance at some old plantation house, and you need a 4WD to get there (but you need it anyway).

As for the dolphins, though we saw dolphins there, I suspect that dolphins in general are afraid of bubbles and stay away from the divers. Snorkeling with dolphins is possible, and we did that (though not in Curacao but in Hawaii).

My first trip to the island is getting very near, April 23.
Staying at all west and just can't wait to get there.

Question: Is there somewhere to rent an underwater camera for a day or two?
OEW dosen't have any.

TIA.

Back in film days, my husband had a problem with his Nikonos V and was able to rent one from the main Ocean Encounters shop at Lions Dive. That was obviously a long time ago but worth checking, though you'd think OEW would have mentioned it. (A long drive from OEW though.) The was also a decent photo area in the dive shop at Habitat once upon a time, no idea if that's still the case but again it's a place to check. Not as far away, though still a drive.

It's really hard to figure out from their website but Diveversity at Habitat seems to. At least they have a link to a Dive Photo Store on the Habitat website. Click Diving then diving then Dive Photo Store. They're probably the closest location that might rent something. One of the pictures does show what appears to be photo gear on a shelf.

Otherwise Atlantis Diving in downtown Willemsted does. http://www.atlantisdiving.com/Rental.1929.en
