Thx for sharing. Great pics! I have a feeling you'll be back sooner than you think. It sounds like you really enjoyed it and it only gets better the more you visit.

Thanks for sharing Skipper, your done, like Deb said another Coz addict has drifted in.......

Awesome post, SkipperJohn. Can you tell us where you did your night dive, and some interesting stuff you saw? Thanks for sharing, love the pics.
Well, it seemed like we were swimming distance from the DP dock. On the Atlantis (top speed could not be more than 10 knots) it was a 5 minute ride south. It was a wall, the top was roughly 65 feet. The bottom I never saw but we did make 95 feet on the initial descent.
We didn't see much. It was a major disappointment for most (not me as this was my first ever night dive). We saw a trumpet fish, and a small octopus that was buried in a little cove so little of him was there to see. A few of the common fish we saw during the day then these little fish the size of a common house fly that swarmed like insects. There were thousands of them & they were hitting us on our faces and hands and it felt like insects!
I was intrigued with the whole night experience (& somewhat relieved as it was not half as scary as I was prepared for), practicing my night signals and such. But the reef (if you can call it that) was sparse.

A night dive is just about my favorite dive. Too bad the reef didn't co operate John. Try Bonaire's Bari Reef someday, for an awesome night dive, with tons to see.

That was probably Villablanca Wall; it's right behind Blue Angel (where I stay), and I see boats and lights at night out there occasionally. Those "bugs" were most likely tiny shrimp; were they reddish looking?

Welcome back, John.

Thanks for posting the pics and the report.

If you liked the experience and the diving even with a cattle boat and a not so great night dive (95ft on a night dive??? Most won't take you anywhere that deep at night, or on a wall dive), next trip choose one of the smaller dive operations with the fast boats (max of 6-8 divers per boat), and try and get a night dive at Paradise Reef. Paradise really comes alive at night. Never disappoints.

Your trip sounded great and the picture are awesome. I'm going to Cozumel in Feb. We are staying at the Cozumel Palace and diving with Aqua World. What sites did you dive?
