Well, it seemed like we were swimming distance from the DP dock. On the Atlantis (top speed could not be more than 10 knots) it was a 5 minute ride south. It was a wall, the top was roughly 65 feet. The bottom I never saw but we did make 95 feet on the initial descent.Awesome post, SkipperJohn. Can you tell us where you did your night dive, and some interesting stuff you saw? Thanks for sharing, love the pics.
That was probably Villablanca Wall; it's right behind Blue Angel (where I stay), and I see boats and lights at night out there occasionally. Those "bugs" were most likely tiny shrimp; were they reddish looking?Well, it seemed like we were swimming distance from the DP dock. We didn't see much. It was a major disappointment for most (not me as this was my first ever night dive). We saw a trumpet fish, and a small octopus that was buried in a little cove so little of him was there to see. A few of the common fish we saw during the day then these little fish the size of a common house fly that swarmed like insects. There were thousands of them & they were hitting us on our faces and hands and it felt like insects!
I was intrigued with the whole night experience (& somewhat relieved as it was not half as scary as I was prepared for), practicing my night signals and such. But the reef (if you can call it that) was sparse.
