I have a Sealife DC1000 Elite that comes with the strobe and bracket. I purchased a weight for the camera, but now can't figure out how to attach it. I figured I would unscrew the bottom screw that hold the camera to the bracket, but the screw is not long enough. Is there a longer screw I should have to attach it?
As you can probably tell, I'm new to diving and underwater photography, but not to photography in general. Just wondering if I'm missing something.

Yes, you are missing the correct accessory. Your original mounting screw is 1". You need the larger size for attaching the weight.

shouldn't that come with the weight?

(I know they have different size screws, because I got a replacement screw for my strobe on my sealife and they sent me the oversized screw by mistake. can't fault them though as they didn't charge me for it in the first place.)

No, I found where you buy the screw separately. Wish I would have found that sooner since we leave for our dive trip on Monday. I guess I can zip tie it or something. Thanks for the information!!

Go by your local home improvement store or hardware store and buy a 1/4-20 screw or bolt than is the correct length. Take the camera and weight with you for proper sizing. If what they have is a little too long, just get a few washers to take up the space . BE SURE TO GET STAINLESS STEEL screws and washers, brass will work in a pinch but it's not the best for long term use.

Thanks, herman. I forgot I actually have a few of these screws around that I used for other photo equipment projects. If I get time, I'll see what I can come up with.
