As many of you Cozumel die hards and some not so die hards know, Pizza Prima has relocated - much to the dismay of many fans. I was one of those skeptical people regarding the relocation and the "closing" of a Cozumel icon - but I have to say, it's not such a bad thing!
Prima, now located on the top floor of El Cantil - North building boasts a fantastic view with the option of indoor (air conditioned) seating or outdoor terrace dining. One word of caution, it can get really windy up that high - so I predict that the indoor seating will prove to be the preference of most.
Prima is now serving breakfast, lunch and dinner:
Breakfast: Monday - Saturday, 7am - noon; Sunday 7am - 2pm
Lunch: Monday - Sunday, 11am - 4pm
Dinner: Seven days a week from 4pm - 11pm
They will also have Happy Hour daily offering 2 x 1 drinks from noon - 4pm
Breakfast:
I'm impressed! I've had breakfast there twice now! The food, presentation, portions and prices rival anywhere else on the island. Renters at El Cantil will now be offered a complimentary breakfast each day which is a limited menu, but still full of choices. Breakfast prices range from $35 pesos to $$110 pesos - with the average breakfast running in the $70 - $80 pesos range ($5 - $6 USD). I've personally tried the Spanish Omelette and the Motulenos - both were fantastic!
There is also a Divers Special breakfast which is served from 7am to 9am for $45 pesos. This is your basic breakfast of eggs any style, sausage, toast, coffee, juice.
Lunch:
I haven't eaten lunch there YET - but looked over the menu and am impressed with the offerings and the prices. Lunch at Prima will run you $55 to $150 pesos ($4 to $12 US). Hamburgers, salad, pasta, nachos, chicken, nachos, fish tacos, pizza - your typical lunch fare at very accessible prices in a great atmosphere.
For renters and residents of El Cantil, they are also offering poolside service as of this week!
Dinner:
All of your favorite Prima dishes mixed in with some of the Wynston favorites such as Crab Macaroni & Cheese, Chilean Sea Bass, excellent Prima steaks, Chicken Cozumel, etc. There really wasn't anything I noticed MISSING from the old Prima menu - only additioans from the Wynston's menu. From what I could tell, the pricing hasn't changed.
So - for those of you who have vowed not to visit the new location, I encourage you to reconsider. I know that we;ll all miss the old ambiance of The Prima of year's past - but the new Prima ain't so bad
Disclaimer:
I do not work for Prima nor did I receive any incentive whatsoever to write this. My write-up is for selfish purposes
I really like the place and I want it to stay around
I hope you'll give it a try!
