I have built PVC cannisters with 3mm walls before with no issues.
PVC is not acrylic though. It also depends on what depth you want to take it.
To be honest you are probably better just getting something thicker.

I see. How big was the canister? I mean internal diameter. And by the way thanks for your light. I already got battery and tried it in the air. Going to dive with it this Sunday

Can was made using 90mm OD PVC stormwater pipe.I see. How big was the canister? I mean internal diameter. And by the way thanks for your light. I already got battery and tried it in the air. Going to dive with it this Sunday

I have a limited number left of the IST's. Once they are gone there will be no more.
I also have the W200/R2 modified lights which are slightly brighter and run for longer but they are 50% longer and 50% more $
Let me know how you like the light in water.
