With an exam over the weekend, along with a meeting with a professor Friday afternoon and a group project required meeting on Monday, I'm afraid I'm going to miss a Megadive. :(

Turkey Roost did not get flooded, but the road to it is underwater. The river is starting to recede and there will be a meeting on Wednesday on whether or not to reopen the waterfront sites.

So far it looks like we will have ~20 people attending.

Bummer Jah Jah.. next time...

am starting to stock up on food items for the party!
Picked up 2 lbs bacon. Will pre fry.
Also making carmel corn and crab cakes. Hermit Crab could be convinced to make some cookies.
Will also bring paper and plastic items.

How deep is the water getting into Turkey Roost? Some of us have offroad vehicles like trucks and Jeeps, some have cars. Is it walkable from the parking area AROUND the run area and pavillion to get there? We may not be able to drive INTO Turkey Roost, but we can always hike gear in via the landbridge right? BTW all, standing water means:... SKEETERS THE SIZE O HELLIE CHOPTERS! Tie small children and fluffy animals to heavy objects! Andy, knows about this...

so a baby goat would give double points?

sweet!

btw, the only tying going on around me is those who insist on wrapping my tent with cave line EVERY FRAGGING MORNING

i mean, it was funny the first 12 times

Thanks for the reminder Andy. :D :D :D

As of yesterday it was still everywhere. However, the water in the river is quickly dropping. I will be diving everyday this week:D, and will give daily updates. The water has dropped below the second step at little devils.

I will give Turkey Roost a good reconnoiter, and report back. It will ultimately be up to Ginnie staff as to whether or not they open it back up for camping.
