BC For spearfishing

Hi all, i freedive spearfish but also spearfish while scubadiving especially at depths for larger fish. I would like to know your opinions those who do this on BC'S good for scuba spearos. Im 6'2 and 200lbs with wide shoulders and smaller waist, i would like a bc that can carry a few float bags and things such as a small flashlight but not a bc that is bulky and cumbersome underwater and out. I would like one that has good back support as well, any ideas for me, thanks all.

I prefer the scubapro knighthawk... It's an awesome BC and it's very streamlined... and i prefer back flotation... Great for spearing...

Agree 100% with the Knighthawk. I love mine.

I use a Seaquest Balance. It is very lightweight and rear inflate but it could use a few more attachment points.

I recommend you look into a backplate and wing combo. They are very modulay, sturdy and very comfortable.

Many of the regular jackets would work. I don't know about back inflates; but any of these are pretty bulky and not a good choice for free diving. Many freedivers do not use vests; however, vests can be very useful. For example, a CO2 inflated vest can support the diver on the surface while fighting a large fish on a short string. If a fish holes up in deep water an inflated vest can be tied off to the gun. Some divers have died due to blackout. However, the story put out by "safety" groups that blackout is sudden and without warning is not always true. Often, a failure of vision will occur a couple seconds before unconsciousness. It looks like night has fallen. Grabbing the CO2 pull handle in time, before blackout leads to a serious outcome, could save one's life. The military UDT vest is a good choice.

Scuba aside, this is something to consider. Also, I put it out here to cover the bases in case that is what you are asking. I don't know. The only clue is "back support" which suggests scuba. However, a spearfishing forum is probably not the right place to query about BC's for Scuba.

I agree with the Knighthawk recommendations but I also love the Oceanic Probe-back floatation, large pockets, low profile, D-rings. It has it all and gets the job done for me.

Zeagle's Stiletto BC is a top seller for spearfishermen. Designed and named by spearos too!
It quickly became Zeagle's best selling BC.
Fit is Zeagle's forte'. I'm built like you 6'1" and 190 lbs, and am the largest guy that can where the medium because they are cut tall. You should fit great in a large.

Prior to the Stiletto's debut a few years back, only the technical BCs had 1000 denier cordura construction (or ballistics cloth) but these BCs were designed to be able to carry doubles as well, so they were wide, bulky and had more lift than most spearfishermen want.

The Stiletto is very streamlined & tough, has lots of attach points and options for SMBs, pony tanks and a good AIR, the Octo Z. +1 for the Stiletto BC, it's very streamlined and should be a nice BC for anything from the tropics to spearfishing. I just wonder how it will do up against that 12 ft tiger shark???? hmmmm

I use a SeaQuest Pro QD. Not too bulky and plenty of D-rings.
