The dive shop i cater to told me i need to be a divecon. i find it rather unusual for a shop to recruit. are they doing this because they think i would be good at it or for the money?:cool2:

Not that unusual, assuming they want you to actually divecon for them. (And are not just trying to sell you the course and materials.)

Should be to the benefit of both you AND the shop. Otherwise doesn't make sense for either of you. They wouldn't want you being a divecon for them if they didn't think you'd be good at it. You shouldn't want to do it unless there's something in it for you to make it worth your time and money.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a DiveCon is SSI for divemaster and assistant instructor in one. As to the OP, I'm not sure of the motivations. Gut feeling tells me it's a money thing. Sorry, didn't see that was answered while I was busy. ;)
