FWIW, one of my favorite Cozumel dive sites is Colombia Shallows where the average depth is about 20 feet. It's definitely a real dive.

Gordon,

Wow, we agree once again. I love that dive as well. I love to get Columbia Deep or Marricabo in first and then do a quick jump over to Columbia Shallows for great marine life and light. You can dive forever and get great photos with ambiant light. For some reason many dont believe that a 20 or 25 ft dive is worth doing. IMO when it comes to CS its just not true. There are three huge Parots that hang around there and have for sometime. We saw them again in Nov..

Another advantage is that you can go from Colombia Deep or Maracaibo to Colombia Shallows and jump right in. The whole dive is a safety stop.

BINGO WE HAVE A WINNER........CHICKEN DINNER!!!!!
funny how so many dont quite get that

Who has planned two-tank afternoon dives? When do they go? Will they pick up at Cozumel Palace?

Chirsti's shop BlueXTSea dive does two tank afternoon dives. She does not do business on SB, so contact her if you are interested. With so many DiveOps in Coz, I can not image that a large number of them close the doors at noon! I'm betting many shops in Coz offer two tank afternoon dives assume they can book the divers.

Many shops will also work together so if you book with shop A, and they don't have the divers to support a PM trip, there is a good chance they will find you a boat to go out on.

your proba&bly right.

I just do not want to do 6 afternoon dives at Paradise reef.;)
Neither would I - decent site, not the best Cozumel has to offer.

Check with Blue Angel - excellent operator

Aldora and Living Underwater also should be able to accomodate you; however I find their cost per trip high.

Your issue is not so much 3 dives a day, but 3 dives where - Up to me I'd do 3 wall dives per day!

Good Luck - pls post what you find out

But there's the rub; there's nowhere near the demand for afternoon dives as for morning dives in Cozumel. It's hard on the DM's, too, to do two dives in the afternoon since they dive two tanks nearly every morning. Blue Angel will do two tank afternoon dives provided they can get some minimum divers to go and if they have a DM fresh enough to lead it, but they don't do it every day.

Mine too. I could dive Columbia Shallows every day and never get tired of it.

A couple of years ago on a 14 day Coz trip, I dove CS 4 times and my wife dove there 5 times (she went there once when I was out fishing). It never got boring.

I use Aldora dive op on Calle 5 (go to aldora.com]Aldora Divers of Cozumel[/url]). They have fast boats that get to the dive sites in minutes. They leave at 7:30 from their down town dock, but will gladly pick you up at the closest dock to wherever you are staying. After the first dive they go to a nearby beach where you can drain off some nitrogen for about 45 minutes to an hour. Again with their fast boats and the close proximity to the beach it only takes minutes to get back and forth. The terraferma aspect is nice. Beats rocking around on the boat killing time. I was typically back on my dock between 12 and 12:30 each day. They go out again at 2:30 for a third dive for those interested. Night dives are Wednesday and Saturday. One of their selling points is the 120 lb steel tanks. Gotta love the extra downtime. But to me the best part of Aldora is the obvious pride and professionalism each and every member demonstrates. They clean you gear each day and it shows up dry the next morning. I like the personal touch. Worth the extra few bucks a day for all the perks. It is your vacation right?
Good luck
