When we have dove there (x3), we stayed at the FIBR. We tipped $120 for two people for five days of three tank dives. In talking with other divers, that seemed to be about the norm.

In other places in the Caribbean we tip about $3-5 per dive per person, if the DM and captain are good and deserve it. So that's about what Dave said.

I find 10% to 15% of the package divided between the staff at the resort works the best! I,e. 895.00 package including diving and excluding air would be (Round up) 90.00 50.00 to 60.00 for the dive staff and the balance to the Resort staff. Per Person of course!

Interesting way to calculate it, I hadn't thought about that before!

I have a group going November 1st to Bay Islands and have instructed all my divers to tip $3 to $5 per dive. Depending on how will they are treated by the crew.
After a weeks diving $50/ person is pretty average

That is about what we tipped the DM and the Captain each. The remainder of our tips went to other staff.

At FIBR, I've always had outstanding DM (in the past Robert - now Darren) and boat driver (Moses) and I've tip generously. When I return they are really happy to see us and go out of their way to make sure that we have a great time.
Those guys drive from the other side of the island and gas there isn't cheap (as well as everthing else to live).
I ususally have the same crew and have never been stuck on a boat with what has been reported as "bad crew"

I know this isn't diving related tipping, but when you arrive at the airport, watch your luggage.
This guy, who I thought was part of the staff that greeted us and tagged our luggage for FIBR, grabs my bags literally out of my hands and tosses them on the bus. Before I could turn to my buddy and get our heads together to tip him, he starts yelling obscentities at me about not tipping and being cheap, etc etc. Yes, that quick. To say the least, he didn't get one red Lincoln or a Washington from me.
Watch your bags. He was just an airport baggage person, not from FIBR.
