monday! monday! monday! you really should fly home monday!!

i think padi says 12hrs for single dives on a single day, 18hrs for multi dives on a single day and 24hrs multiple dives on multiple days

monday! monday! monday! i'll write your boss a note :D

I looked up my SSI OW, it says 18 hours to be safe. I will see what time I can fly home, though not confident about work as we have a release that week :depressed: You should come out for a night dive on Saturday after your course :D

Nah ... I'll leave that to you ... lost interest when I learned Sas had lost her Irish accent ;)

:rofl3: Well I hope some of you can make it on Saturday anyway. :) I am going to try convince my buddy to come up as well, well he is easy to convince but dunno if he will be busy at work, etc.

YAY :bounce: Can't wait. *sigh* I should not organise things so early though as then I have to wait ages for them to occur. :dork2:

Hey,

I have been living in Sydney for a short while now and I have yet to dive Bare Island, and the Midnight Wreck sounds pretty awesome. SO is the protocol with these things self invite, and hope no one disagrees.......... or do i have to ask nicely :blinking: ....... or is is a private friends club, and no amount of asking will work:shakehead:

I think I need to get out and meet some more people in this crazy and somewhat unfriendly city, maybe this is a chance:popcorn:

ummmm lets see.....

we have the irish Sas
the cannuck BowlofPetunias
the (apparently) pommy (somewhere in the genes) Thanks4alltheFish
the italian & greek background of the Almitees
and the tassie blokes

so i guess as long as youre not a true blue born and dated 7 generations back aussie you will fit right in! :D

and sydney gets much more friendlier in summer.... right now were just coming out of hibernation

I don't mind, I love meeting new people when diving~~ :) With the midnight wreck, I just emailed Yves, the Scubaroos charter and asked when he was doing the wreck dive in October and he said Fri night 31st Oct (well it will be very early Saturday morning actually). Maybe say you'll be with Sarah (me) and probably Paul (my buddy, who is probably coming up too). The more of us on the charter the more likely it is to run too! :)

Not sure what the go will be at Bare Island. What time do you guys like to dive at petunia + thanks? :) I am fine any time, I will have a little car to drive myself around in so anytime suits. I guess we can work it out closer!

With work, not looking likely to get the Monday off. :(

Edit: Scubaroos charter info: http://scubaroos.com.au/.

Oh I just had a thought, what are the charters like in Sydney with cert cards and stuff? In Melbourne most only require OW for 18m, AOW for 30m and Deep for 40m for rec stuff, so if you want to dive on a wreck at 16m for example, you don't need a wreck card or anything just OW. Same with night dives, you don't need the 'Night' cert card. But some places (mainly clubs who hire out charter boats) require you to have all the cards... (I guess cos they sell the courses that way :D)

What is it like in Sydney? As I don't have a 'Wreck' cert card?

good question Sas - you are not penetrating the Currajong so i cant imagine an issue but let me ask hubby tonight what happens with frogdive

Hopefully it won't matter! Scubaroos did not say anything about it, and did I put my # of dives down and cert level as that is what they ask for in Melbourne so I think he would have told me if I couldn't...

I was just asking as my friend who just got certified will be doing a few night dives with us over the next few months but the shop he did his cert card through, won't let him do any night dives with the dives they run until he has the actual 'Night' specialty (even after he gets AOW and does a night dive through that). Same with wreck dives and drift dives, you need 'Wreck' and 'Drift' specialties. Seems a bit strict and I know a few shops do it that way... I wouldn't want to collect a bunch of cards for stuff I already do personally! :rofl3: Too poor! But I guess they have their reasons, maybe worried about being sued or something.
