We did the taxi, bus, taxi, boat, etc on our trip.

Give yourself plenty of time as the immigration likes to move families through while others wait. If another flight gets in before you and it is a tight connection forget it. If it is raining you might not make the final jump.

Lately a lot of the Houston - SAP flights have been delayed, as much as 5 hours (last Thursday) - so leave plenty of time; not sure about flights routed through other airports. Also know that the domestic airlines are notorious for "losing" your reservation or just plain bumping you, even if you've paid for your ticket. This wouldn't be as big of a deal if you were heading to Roatán as it would be to Guanaja or Utila since there are many more flights scheduled to Roatán than the other islands. It's a good idea to confirm the day ahead and be sure they still have you listed.

Keep the La Ceiba -> Roatan ferry schedule with you. I arrived in San Pedro Sula one day and couldn't get a flight to one of the islands, but could get a flight to La Ceiba then a quick cab ride to the ferry terminal (PLAN B)

If you are hungry when you land, there is a Wendys' in the Terminal, yummy. Oh ya, there is a domestic departure tax, something like 2-3 bucks not included in your airfare, best to have the cash in your pocket to also pay for the airfare.

Buenos vieja!!!!

Looks like we're leaning toward simply waiting until our arrival in S.P. Sula & then search for the next flight or (plan B) taxi to the ferry, and head for Roatan by boat.

Did you know that there are direct flights to Roatan from Houston, Miami and Atlanta. Direct flights from the states to Roatan fly on Thur, Sat and Sun. Oh, and by the way, the line for the Wendy's at SAP airport always seems to be long and moves slowly!

Really? We've always gotten through the line at Wendy's fairly quickly.

I still prefer clearing img. in SAP vs. RTB. While they do handle 'special cases' (families w/small children, elderly, physically challenged or other) in a special line, there have always been at least 4 other lines open when I've gone through.

Guess it's the luck of the draw maybe? Or maybe it's cause I always choose seats toward the front of the plane & am one of the 1st couple rows off? Now waiting for the luggage to be delivered to the conveyor belt is a whole other story... but that's going to apply to either SAP or RTB :)

Listen to UtlGirl. She knows of what she speaks.

Now the real question is why no one runs a ferry between RTB and UTL. Seems like this is a no brainer, but then against logic doesn't always prevail there does it?

There is a catamaran that leaves for Utila from the Coconut tree dock in the West End. I don't think there's a regular schedule, but I remember seeing it most days that I was there (coconut tree) over the summer. Will is likely to know much more about it.
