australia is a huge island...... its slightly larger than the United States minus Alaska, but with 10% of the population so where are you heading too??

cheers

Hey Marcy,
I just joined the board today! Anyway, I just got back from Australia two days ago. I was there backpacking for a month and it's amazing... everyone there is super nice. When I was there I dove the S.S. Yongala. The Yongala is amazing because all the sea life there looks as if they took steriods (honestly it's ridiculous). You can take a charter there from Townsville, Magnetic Island (lots of fun there), or Cairns. I also did a 2 day/1 night trip with Reef Encounter. Reef Experience is their day trip counterpart, but if you want to stay on the reef for a night or more look at Reef Encounter. The rooms are nice, the food is good, and the crew is freakin' fantastic! Also, I didn't do it myself, but I heard diving the Julien Rocks off of Bryon Bay is a wonderful dive as well. Let me know if you have any other questions about Australia, diving or not, I'd love to help. Have fun, I know you will, Cheers Mate!

Thanks so much for chatting with me -
We are going to start in Sydney, then stay in Mooloobaba, and then a live aboard out of Cairnes.
We have lots of info. about Sydney, and the live aboard is pretty much done for planning - but Moolobaba (sunshine coast) is a mystery still. What is there that we shouldn't miss there?
thanks!!! - Marcy

hi JDufreche -
thanks for writing back to me. Where did you go? What did you do? And was jet lag terrible?
oh, I am so sad for you that you had to come home!!! Every day I am getting more excited for our trip, and I dread the day when we will have to say "we went to Australia" - but I guess there are always next trips to look forward to - Huh?
Anyway -
We have lots of info. about Sydney, and then we are going on a live aboard out of Cairnes with Mike Ball Expeditions. Before the live aboard, we will stay on the sunshine coast in Mooloobaba - Moolobaba (sunshine coast) is a mystery still. What is there that we shouldn't miss there?
We do plan to drive in Brisbane and Cairnes - is this a terrible idea? Our kids are 14 and 15 and also dive - anything that you did or saw that they would love - (besides the cliffs which will be a go probably for us)?
thanks for any info at all.
Can't wait to get under the sea!!!!!
Marcy
