What happened to Continental flights from Newark to Curacao from September to November (discontinued)?

Oh No, this must have changed recently. I purchase two tickets two weeks ago for the week of November 8th. Guess I have to call Continental to get my money back.

:11: OH MY GOSH!!!!! I've had an October flight to Curacao booked since MAY. No notification from CO and now the reservation isn't even in my account. Crap! This was booked on onepass miles. I'm not too happy about this at all. One big feature for us choosing Curacao last year and this year is the ease of the non-stop from Newark.

I contacted Continental and they indicated that the flights were cancelled. They are, however, looking to see how they can re-route them. I was told not to credit my credit card yet, because if they re-route them, I will pay the same price I paid for the tickets. I will post if I hear anything new.

do they still have the "overnight" flight from Houston to Bonaire?
For now, yes they do.

Are you able to retrieve your record online (even if it shows the flights cancelled)? Ours seems to have completely vanished. It's not on our account anymore and when I tried pulling it up with the conf# it just tells me the number is invalid.

We booked using miles and the account went up in miles yesterday by about the same amount we used for these tickets. But, the activity isn't showing the withdrawl or redeposit. I've got to call them today.

Just off the phone with Continental... since we were booked on onepass miles, I'm SOL. They will do nothing (and were actually pretty rude about it). Glad I read the board yesterday otherwise I wouldn't have even looked at our res again until the week we were leaving.

I've checked just about every possible option and short of adding another $1800+ to the cost of the trip, there are no good choices for our dates. We go specifically for the spawning weeks. Oh well, was looking forward to it again this year. Time to go cancel the hotel and diving package!

Also read this an article this afternoon that there will be lots of cuts to the Caribbean by all airlines, which makes me leery to book anything right now for after Aug/Sept. Flight cuts may hurt Caribbean tourism - News - MSNBC.com

Oh scubawife, I'm so sorry to hear you'll have to cancel :(
This whole situation just makes be feel absolultey ill. It's always been so difficult and expensive to get to most of the Caribbean from Western Canada. The new direct routhes from the US were good news for us to, as it meant less stops (only 2 dozen instead of 3 dozen... lol... it FEELS like that many!) But now, with all these airline cutbacks (Air Canada joining the masses with 2000 laid off), how are we ever going to get to those wonderful places? :( Sorry, I guess that sounds selfish. I do feel for all those with jobs lost, and for the Caribbean islands whose tourism may well take a big hit unless they rely on those from Europe... but a future trapped here with less ability to travel to sunny places with warm, clear tropical waters.... just makes me want to cry :( I was hoping to plan a trip to Curacao, but getting there could be a bleak prospect now.
