Black or yellow, I've seen a lot of each out there in the world.... What colour should my long hose be? and why?

There's really no reason why the long hose should be in a distinct colour from the rest of your gear (and "the rest of your gear" may not be black). The aesthetic consideration is really up to you.

The 7' hose is also available in orange, green (OMS) and blue (Miflex).

If you try really hard, I'm sure you can persuade a Japanese brand like SAS to supply a white long hose.

Most of the yellow hoses I have seen have been slightly larger diameter than black and more buoyant. Colour doesn't matter by itself but these other two factors were enough to not use them.

All other considerations being equal (buoyancy, flexibility) it does not matter at all what color your long hose is (or what color anything else you use is).

Yeah, well, black looks sharp (in everything) but it sure is hard to see in murky water!

BINGO!!!! I have a yellow long hose. I think the color is cool. But the thing is just too darn floaty. I am stuck with it for a while. If I were buying again, I would go black for the floaty reason.

Being a slave to underwater fashion and my whole bumblebee thing, it is yellow for now! LOL Seriously though, if I had known about how floaty it was, I would not have purchased it.

Thanks folks. Personally I have a snazzy black one which matches the rest of my snazzy black gear (save for a little blue and red here and there). I've just noticed a lot of folks sporting yellow in the last while which got me to thinking....
