Heading down Saturday. My wife and I love fresh Seafood. Any suggestions? We're staying in West Bay but don't mind travelling a little for great seafood.
Thanks
Mark

Hey there Mark,

Come over to West-End and try Mavis and Dixies. They have real good seafood. Half Moon Bay also has island style seafood (i.e. coconut shrimp). Both places have great views. Half Moon Bay is usually a bit more quiet.

If you like indian food, try Ooloonthoo here in West End. It's expensive, but worth it. The new Thai place, Tongs is also delicious. That one is also expensive. What do I mean by expensive? Two people spending between $60 - $80. While here, I'll mention Bida who is also in the same price range. They also have good food.

There are plenty other options, more than you'll likely find on the rest of the island and all within walking distance.

Have a great trip.

We had an excellent meal in West End at a place called The Buccaneer. It's out of the fray, has a great atmosphere, and was very inexpensive for the kind of quality they provided us. We spent $52.00 on a meal that easily would have been twice that cost here in Florida.

Just got back from the islands and have to say for a quiet, secluded, and romantic dinner go to The Lobster Pot. It's down on the beach at the far west end of town, just past the spot where the road goes onto the beach and leads to Luna Beach resort. You'll see a lit up sign and some candle lit tables under a huge almond (I think) tree. I had the rum Roasted shrimp twice and really enjoyed it.

Have a great trip!

The Lobster Pot also has an awesome breakfast...we ate there twice while we were there.

Mark, there is a wonderful restaurant called Gio's Restaurant. It's in French Harbour, Roatan. We got a tip when I was there in 2006 that this was the restaurant for seafood. We were not disappointed. There is an entree (King Crab platter) that is a mountain of seafood of lobster, shrimp, huge crab claws, etc. and believe it or not, it was only $14 US! Probably more now. Most people could not finish it (so I helped them... tough night). It's a pretty laid back place and you can eat inside or outside right on the water. Outside is best if the weather is nice and have a big party (picnic table style). You probably should make reservations if you have a big party. Call 504-455-5214. I might be going back to Roatan next year and this will be one place I won't miss. Have a great trip and enjoy some seafood for me.

Found this on the web:

After looking at the weblink, I think it was "Charlie's Big Fish" platter, not the King Crab platter that you want. I get hungry just thinking about it...
