HI I'll be in Roatan from Apr 4 to Apr 11. I just completed OWD and want to buy a wetsuit and underwater flashlight. Any recommendations on where to buy in Westend or West Bay. Thanks

West End has a Mares duty free shop. check them out, they some some really nice prices on everyting. good luck finding anything other then 3 mils.

Buying any scuba equiptment at a dive resort area could be fatal to your bank account. Check out prices at your LDS befor you go. I bought a 3mm wetsuit in Manila Philippines 2005. It was a year end sale, and the price was better than locally. $24 for my 3mm, $27 for my wife's 3mm Mares Tropic Lady. All the prices on the other eqpt. was about the same as here in the states.

Various places offer Wetsuits.

As previously mentioned there is a Mares shop which has quite a good selection, then there is Coconut Tree Divers who stock Pinnacle, Bare and Oceanic. Sueno del Mar also has a few scubapro and scubamax suits.

Prices at the Mares distributor in the west end are good, and knowing the Coconut tree gang, I suspect their prices are very reasonable as well. In general, buying at a resort area could be really pricey, but Roatan seems to be an exception.

The entire trick to buying a wetsuit is fit; you should find one that fits you great and pay whatever it costs. A dive light you can buy anywhere; you could even rent one on a night dive to see if it's what you want, then buy.

I know i would have got a wet suit at the mares store if i would only had the room in my backpack to get it home, i did leave with a new pair of black skirted X-Vision's :D

Now that i think about i think they had a couple 5 mils suits also.

The Mares shop TGI diver's shop I think near the Duty Free has some 5mm suits as well as some well priced BCD's reg sets and computers. They also have bags, fins, masks and other assorted gear. There was no add on for credit card and his prices were not over the top and in some cases cheaper than a couple of the big internet retailers. This was two weeks ago we were in. They close for siesta but were open early on Sunday morning.

Hey Wil:

The "Contact Us" page on the Coconut Tree website gives me the message: Error: Invalid Page Access.

You may want to see if they are having a problem.

regards,

doug

I just tried it and it seems to work! They can be emailed on coconuttreedivers@gmail.com

I'm not in Roatan at the moment, but will tell the web guru Steve about this when I get back.
