G'day
Will be passing though Sydney in early feb and would love to organise a double dive day trip. Prodive looks good however due to flights in / out i really need to dive on a tuesday if possible and it seems they dont go out on this day. Any recommendation of good dives sites and clubs for a first timer in sydney would be much appreciated....

None of the commercial boats operate on Tuesdays. Try a shore dive near Bare Island, a ten minute drive from the airport.

Be sure to hum the theme from "Mission Impossible". Parts of MI2 were filmed at Bare.

Oh really? How cool. I didn't dive there when the Almities graciously took me under their wings while I was diving there. The conditions weren't right but I did see the place.

i'd second this.

an alternative if you're on the north side is shelly beach and/or fairy bower at Manly.

ps fishdiver: nice pic ;)

i agree, Bare Island is a good dive

but try & contact Abyss (carl is a sometimes SB'er here so ask for him and tell him youre a SB'er-but he might be travelling also as he does that alot) and see if they are going out for a dive. i know they offer guided dives (at a cost) but if its the only day you have then you dont have much choices i guess. Scuba Diving & Scuba Gear - Abyss Scuba Diving

also, think aboot diving Kurnell/Sutherland for the weedy sea dragons

otherwise Dive Centre Manly will most prob take you for a dive to Shelly Beach, a nice shore dive but nothing compared to either Bare Island or Kurnell. you can catch a ferry from circular quay to manly and its a short walk to the dive shop. Scuba Diving Sydney Australia with Dive Centre Manly - local experts and closest to the best dive sites.

orrrr, contact Dive Centre Bondi and see if they are out diving, most prob will be either Camp Cove or Ben Buckler/Nth Bondi depending on conditions - again, nice shore dives. Liam is one of only 2 GUE instructors in the australia and they run a good shop. www.divebondi.com.au

another trip via ferry is to Cronulla and Aquatic Explorers, Aquatic Explorers - Sydney's Scuba Diving Specialists (SSI and TDI) - Based on Cronulla Beach Australia and again, ask aboot Kurnell for the Weedies

hopefully these give you some more options to contact them and see if they can help you out

cheers and enjoy

"And people ask why we need capital punishment." :rofl3:

Thanks all for the useful pointers.. unfortunatley the weather was pretty bad in sydney at the start of the week and by the time it had cleared it was closing in on my no fly time...... guess there's always next time :)

ugghhhhh weathers SUCKS!

this weekends club dive just got canned! on sunday i was at clifton gardens watching rivers of mud flow from the top gardens & pathways into the water

looks like shelley for us on the weekend as hubby is desperate to test out his new prescription mask
