The yellow ring around the lens of my Pro2000 has broken. I'm looking for information about its purpose and if the light is going to leak without it. From my observation it appears to be decrative, meaning there doesn't appear to be and threads that would secure the assemble or a seal, it does not appear to serve any function. That being said I don't see how the glass lens is held in place, hoping to find somebody with disassembly expereince. TIA. Scott

It holds the lens in place. Without it the lens can come off.
You might be able to replace with an Oring like some other MFGs use, or find a parts light to scavange from

That's what I was afraid of. It's a really fragile piece of plastic, I like their form factor but this is weak solution for retaining that lens. Since thet went out of business I don't think they care for my feedback LOL.

Here's what I got back from Backscatter (very prompt response I'd add):

<Scott,

Unfortunately ever since Light & Motion went out of business earlier this year we have been unable to source any replacement components for their products.

The good news about that broken yellow ring in your photo is that I believe it is purely superficial. That yellow plastic ring/clip does not serve any sealing functionality and is not required to keep the front element in place. >

This is what I suspected from my own inspection. I don't see how that yellow ring provides any seal of retention of the lens. there is a small lip on the ring that keeps it in place but I don't see how it provides any integrity to the seal or holding that lens in place, ot looks purely decrotive. However, I also don't see how the lens is held in place either. There are some threads underneath the lens but you can't thread glass. It maybe glued in place, not sure.

All the L&M lights I've had, the lens was held in place by the screw-on outer retaining ring....
