Does anyone know of an online listing for the proof marks hydrostatic testing companies are assigned? I am assuming, and we all know that joke, that when a facility is approved to perform hydros they are assigned a unique stamp that identifies them. This stamp is what we examine when checking to see if the hydro is current. I could be wrong on all of this.

I don't understand. What is the joke you mention?

Mudbug is joking about asses and assumptions.

The 4 characters in a square format RIN is only for US DOT hydrostamps. Canadian stamps are reciprocally accepted and their database is here Transport Canada Registered Means of Containment Facilities

Probably doesn't apply to the OP but at least in my neighborhood it's common to see US DOT and TC stamps moving back and forth between BC and WA/OR

When you make an assumption it makes an ass out of you and me. Ass/u/me.

I have a tank with a hydro test stamping on it. I was hoping there was a listing like they do with cattle brands, if you have the brand in front of you, you can find out what ranch that brand is registered with. The link provided above will tell me who in my area is approved to do hydro tests, but it does not show what their registration stamp is.

This is the link.

On that site, there is a link to lookup by RIN. Type the RIN into the popup window and it will tell you who they are and what they can test.

Thanks for the help.
I clicked on the link that took me to the look up.
It uses a Boolean search engine. However it is wonky as all get out and can't seem to find anything, even when punching in data that appears in the first page of the list.

I used Edge, FireFox and Brave but not seem to work.

Perhaps you could post a photo of your marking? It is kinda hard to decipher zero information.
