Have you had the fins in the water yet?
No, I was supposed to dive them today but the boat was cancelled.
Next weekend I hope.
First dives with the new shoes on Thursday in Jupiter West Palm Beach.
If I sincerely like them for the stiffness, I acknowledge in advance I could be as obnoxious as Joan Rivers talking about a new fur coat.

I dived my new Salvatore Ferragamo Halcyon Vector fins today in a 1.5mm WS.
Trending positively but the jury hasn’t reviewed all the evidence yet.
I think they’re forcing me to actually focus on technique more. With the Dive Rite XTs and their huge paddle area I can afford to be a little lazy as I don’t have to follow through to closure on my frog kick stroke to get good power. With the Vectors, the narrower tip makes it evident that following through is necessary to get the same propulsion.
I was a little concerned the narrow tip was going to lend to occasional slicing but it doesn’t.
My modified flutter kick sucks (need to isolate my hip more) but I’m just good enough to observe the Vectors will allow a high RPM without gassing out the engine. I drifted away from the main body today, powered back to them, powered back over the reef to highlight a turtle, powered back, etc and they actually felt a little more efficient in this role than my XTs.
No problem with back kick. They don’t have the huge outside strake like Jets so a little bit of ankle articulation is necessary but no problem backing away.
Helo turns are easy.
I dived ST today so the fins felt adequately stiff (my preference) but I’m curious to see how they’ll feel driving a steel twinset and a couple of AL40s. That’s got the jury withholding a clear verdict.
I left the weights, the ones that look like suppositories for Big Iron Giant, in the fins just to see how much they drive negative trim. If I stopped and hovered with good arch, it was like I was on a seesaw with the pivot point under my hips. Definitely taking the weights out for tomorrow’s wet recreational ST dive.
I do like the feature of being able to transition with a single fin from a wet mode to a dry mode.
Kyle Harmon (GUE Instructor, GUE.tv demonstration diver, EE Store Manager) has been diving the new Vectors for about 18 months and is happy with them.
