Shearwater, I was just wondering if you had been able to talk with anyone yet about the loss of comms error I keep getting on my Perdix 2? Is there any solution? You upgraded it to the latest firmware version but that didn't help.
My work around of cycling through the screens to reset the alarm works but it is a real pain to do on every dive that I buddy up with my son. It's to the point where it is habit and just part of my routine, like clearing my ears. But boy does it suck.
As a reminder. My son has the original Perdix I bought in 2020 with a transmitter. I have the Perdix 2 with the new transmitter that I bought in 2023.
If I am diving without my son I don't lose comms or receive any other warning, but when the two of us dive together I almost always receive the Yellow warning with either "AI LOST COMMS"; "T1 CRITICAL PRES" OR "T2 CRITICAL PRES" in the first few minutes of the dive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a signal conflict with the two transmitters using the same channel.

My son has the original Perdix that I bought in 2020 with the included (Swift?) transmitter, FK-017484-0619 see photo attached

I have the Perdix 2 Ti (part #13301-10 Serial # A3A12D69) also with the new included transmitter that I bought in 2023. 294501-0423 is number on transmitter, see photo attached.

Both were both as a combo kit from my LDS.

Your son's transmitter is a Pelagic Pressure Systems MH8A transmitter sold by Shearwater. Your transmitter is a Shearwater Swift. Your Swift should avoid transmission clashes. Contact Shearwater.

Yes. I have it selected as T2.
He has limited vision and other medical issues and I wanted a way to know his tank pressure without having to ask him for it. That's why I purchased the Perdix 2 when he started diving again. I know I will lose his pressure reading outside ~3 feet, that's a given with a bluetooth connection. Our standard dive plan has me check both of our tank pressures before we leave the boat and then again about 20 minutes into the dive so that I can check on his air consumption for that dive compared to mine. His air consumption has continued to improve the more dives he does but he still uses more air than I do, so I need to check. Based on his rate I will check again once or twice more during the dive.
FYI, even though he is an adult and an SSI Master Diver with over 125 dives I am his father and being called his "dive buddy" doesn't come close. I operated a nuclear power plant for 30+ years (hence my user name) so I am by nature a cautious person.
But, even if a T2 warning ("T2 CRITICAL PRES") was expected I should not be receiving the "AI LOST COMMS" or "T1 CRITICAL PRES" in the first few minutes of each of our dives.
I don't get them on solo dives without him.
Yes, I have sent Shearwater an email asking for help on this issue. We shall see what they say. It's just strange that there are now a total of two of their reps (Roatan and Belize Invasions) that have never heard of this issue before.

A few years ago I did a few days of diving with a Canadian couple, on Bonaire.
The husband was diving a mask with a heads up screen display of some sort, a display which showed information on the inside of his mask. Among the that info was his wife's tank pressure.
Very helpful in their situation ulit seemed.
I never asked too many questions as I much prefer an analog world. I find today's reliance on a digital environment interesting, but prefer to keep things less dependant on high tech, at least as much as I can.
Obviously, a dive computer has become vital, as it more accurately tacks our true dive profile, far more accurately than the paper dive planners ever could.

Not that worried Jim. He knows what he's doing better than most divers I have seen, in some ways even better than me, but he does have limitations I need to be cognizant of....

At 10 my son Morgan was quite aware of my failings, UW and willing to point them out.

I was sorry to learn on our return from Belize that my son is selling, or unloading his dive gear, but he has not dived since he was a teenager now, so he has moved on with his life.
I made certain that both my daughter and my son had the chance ( once they asked) to train up to Advanced Open water in Scuba Diving, and to their 1st °Black in TaeKwonDo.
What they do with their training, or where they go from that point has always been their choice.
