Blackbird Caye Resort ran a special we couldn't refuse. We are so excited to be going back to Belize! Is anyone else going to be there the week of September 13-20, 2025? Anyone have any input about the Resort?

5 of us going july 26-august 2; got the "deal" as well;
do you really have to have an "advanced open water certification" to dive the blue hole? i have several thousand dives ( certified 1974) - all depths, all conditions; my wife has ~ 300 dives, with lots of experience in current and depth;
but neither of us have "advanced" C cards - and there's nothing in that program that we can't do or haven't done and we don't plan on obtaining that certification now or ever - just not necessary

I dont see a deal on the site but Ive seen them on travel sites - did you book it directly through Blackbird Caye?

They won’t exclude you from the Blue Hole if you’re not AOW. My wife is just OW certified and they allowed her to go. Out DM asked to look through her logbook the night before.
I think I recall them saying they’d evaluate you as a diver leading up to the Blue Hole and we did a deep “checkout” dive the day before.

The two dives on Lighthouse Reef are great. Beautiful reefs and tons of life.

We were there about 2019, I think. We enjoyed the resort and the diving. The food was good and the rooms were nice. They closed it down for renovations shortly after we left, so it may be nicer now.

The operator has to get Annex E completed from Belize’s “STANDARDS (BELIZE STANDARD: CODE OF PRACTICE FOR RECREATIONAL SCUBA DIVING SERVICES) (DECLARATION OF COMPULSORY STANDARD) ORDER, 2016”. So no AOW is not a legal requirement, but it helps.
