Hello all, i'm in the market for a dive computer since my LDS doesn't rent one. I' m currently using a Shearwater Peregrine that i'm borrowing from a friend. I love this watch and even though i'd like one myself, I can't seem to justify spending $$$ for a dive computer. I'm almost certain that it has more features than what I actually need. I'm not really picky, I just want to have a cheap dive computer that I can use for my dive and my budget is $100. Even better if it's cheaper than that. Thank you all!

At that budget, I’d focus on watching the Classifieds here.

If you run into a little bit of money, I’d check out the Deep 6 Excursion. It’s simple but complete and has great battery life.

I have a couple of Suunto computers I'd part with...a Vyper that I'd sell for $100 and a Zoop I'd take $75.00 for. The batteries in each are dead so I would put a new battery in either one and make sure they're functioning before selling them. However, I don't have time to do that right now as we are leaving for Cozumel first thing in the morning. If you can wait, I'll be back next weekend and will check them out and let you know if they are working if you're interested. I'd even include shipping in those prices to US address.

I would look at getting a used Peregrine then. Get it over with and be done. You already know how to use it and if you continue diving, you will want those features you are not using currently. You can find them on Marketplace at times too for good prices.

I've been checking the classifieds but haven't seen anything within my budget. Thanks for the recomendation, i'll do my research on the Deep 6 and see if it's a good fit.

Please shoot me a message or respond back to this when you get back from your trip. If I haven't found one by then, i'd be interested in purchasing yours. I hope you have an amazing trip!

I'd love to but I really don't have the money for it now. I'll keep on checking the classifieds and see if someone is selling on a discount

If you can swing $175, you can get a decent new nitrox computer.

If not, keep looking at used. Anything with nitrox capability will work fine. More expensive computers have nice features, but you don't actually need anything beyond a basic nitrox computer unless and until you get into tech diving.

Do make sure it's rechargeable or you can change the battery yourself though. Some older models required you to take it to the dealer for an expensive "service" which just meant using a proprietary tool to open it so they could replace the o-ring and battery.

I'd second that. Even though Mares is RGBM, but it's a really good option for beginners without breaking a bank

Even though Mares is RGBM
Just to clarify, the latest additions to the Mares lineup (Puck 4, Puck Pro Ultra and the Lite) are not RGBM. From the website above (for the Lite):
Equipped with the Buhlmann ZH-L16C algorithm and two gradient factor options, this Nitrox-compatible dive computer enhances safety and customizes decompression calculations to suit each diver's individual preferences.
