Thanks all for the assistance. I’m just going to run a loaner for now and pick up a new hose when I get home.

Good plan. I would not like to be wasting vacation time chasing parts.

Grab yourself an Atomic Jam nut from your dealer as well. I keep one in my Save-a-dive when traveling with the atomic reg.

Scuba repair couldn’t make a standard hose with a jam nut work so I’m just looking for someone that sells atomic parts where I could pick up their proprietary swivel hose. No big deal, I’ll just get one when I get home.

People swap out the AA swivel hose regularly for a long hose, milflex hose, etc without any issue. The one thing that one should to do when swapping out the swivel hose is to remove the o-ring on the inlet tube but even if that is not done it is a bit of no harm no foul.

I am still curious as to what was the original issue. I am also baffled as to why a standard hose did not work. I am guessing that you took off only part of the AA swivel hose. That is you removed the swivel assembly but NOT the swivel housing. See this post.

The AA hose was bad (4yrs old, small bubbles coming through the rubber casing). Yes I removed the swivel housing. The issue was the repair shops I went to didn’t have the jam nut. I plan to buy one to have on hand as others above suggested in the future.

Okay the rest of the story.

FWIW one does not need an AA jam nut as any will work. I once serviced an AA reg that had a SP jam nut on it. And as I noted in a pinch one does not need one at all.

I remember someone posted a comparison of jam nuts with different widths, and from differing brands. I believe most would play well enough with each other, but there was a certain hose+reg+jam nut combo that left very little sealing area for the oring...

Good memory. IIRC that was an AA M1 jam nut. I would have to do some digging.
