Will be staying at VoliVoli but then Taveuni. Really want a/c. My question is about Sau Bay. SO many glowing trip advisors reviews but none here. Does anyone here have first hand experience at Sau Bay Resort since mid 2024? Thanks in advance.

Yes, we stayed recently. It’s a beautiful setting but the operations are a bit disorganized, including the diving. I’m happy to answer specific questions about the resort based on my stay.

Thanks very much. Was nervous about that. Doesn't sound appealing. Has been 3 years almost with the new ownership. Really wish TDR had A/C. AM thinking maybe end of March won't be blisteringly hot there.

I have friends that stayed at TDR the first week of April and said it was comfortable in the Bures at night with fans as the temp was mid 70s. It just depends on your tolerance for the heat and humidity.

March and April is still the rainy season on Taveuni, which makes it very humid. If you need A/C at home with heat and high humidity, you will need it in Fiji. Adding to that the mosquitoes that carry Dengue, I always opt for A/C in Fiji.

I've done both January and June at TDR. January was hot but still manageable with the breeze and ceiling fans (I like to sleep cold). By June it's a non-issue cause it gets into the 60's at night. I think you'd probably be ok in late March, though as was pointed out it's still the rainy season. If you can swing sometime late June through August, that's probably the ideal time climate wise (as well as vis underwater).

The bures at TDR are also massive and were clearly not designed with AC in mind. It'd take a big unit and a lot of power to cool them (and they are off grid with solar/generators). They did put lots of vents on all walls though, as well as ceiling fans (which can be turned up quite fast).

Thank you! Anyone know about Taveuni Resort & Spa lately? They don't have a dedicated dive op, but looks like the one near them, Taveuni Ocean Sports, gets high marks.

Nope, but I'm staying at Paradise Taveuni in a little over a week. I'll post my experience in a few weeks when I get back if you're interested.
