Hello everyone! I'm a graduate student at SCAD savannah, and I just got my GUE rec 1 certification. just want to say hi to everyone. And I am also looking for some nearby place to dive and practice —— I searched in SB and they said I have to drive 4hrs to FL spring to dive. That's a little bit too far. Anyone know of any shore dives, lakes, or quarries closer to Savannah that are a bit more closer than spring dive for practice? I'd really appreciate any tips or suggestions!

Also, if there are any other GUE divers around who wanna dive somewhere in GA or FL , I’d be totally up for it!

Check out divebuddy.com. You can use scuba earth and find dive sites and dive buddies within specified distances from your location.

Oh, and welcome to Scubaboard. There is a great wealth of knowledge and information here.

I have driven 5 hours from Atlanta to the FL springs many times. We're fortunate to have these world-famous springs THAT close to us.

Aww man. I have a senior at SCAD and have been going to Savanah for the past 4 years and no diving when I’m there cause I couldn’t find any local info or dive boats. I’ll be there in May for a week during graduation if you want to dive somewhere I just don’t know where?!! I’m GUE Fundies Rec pass.

Thanks for the site, not sure how I didn't know about this... I guess I am getting old I thought I was pretty savvy on the net, ha.

Yeah, this is kinda awkward. I think the only dive site nearby is that Scooba Shack lake and its only 30 feet.Charter in jacksonville or charleston require AOW. So I’ve been looking for some weekly spring diving trips in North Florida to join. Congrats on graduating, by the way! If you’re down, we could go to gennie or blue grotto or somewhere together sometime.

West Palm Beach is is decent diving reasonable drive. But most charter operators will require a OW and possibly nitrox

There’s a West Palm Beach thread here lots of good information

Thanks! I’ll look into it

I live in Ocala FL, if you’re ever at the springs on a weekend let me know! I was at Devil’s Den today, and Ginnie springs last weekend.
