Since I've found a friendly group here on this thread, let me ask another question!!! How many BCDs have you owned in your life, and how many do you own right now? Why did you get rid of any that you don't own anymore?

Six total. Three were traditional jacket/back inflate...unnecessary amount of lift and too much drag. Sold them.

Three are BPW. First was standard plate and the first gen Halcyon wing eventually started to leak at seams/punctures. Second one is Freedom plate with an Apeks PSD wing which I think will outlive me. Third is an travel plate with Apeks 18lb wing that sadly doesn't get enough use.

One. It started with "Storm" Alu backplate (which I still have) and got upgraded to Freedom one. I don't normally dive in cold water, nor doubles, so don't need another wing.

One, Halcyon BP and wing, although the wing was replaced a couple of years back due to some wear.

Along those lines, I have a set of Oceanic/Aeris Accel travel fins that are stiff as a board, but I've adapted to them now and I really like them -- and they often can be found for cheaper prices than the Go Sport fins.
The Accels, they are light and pack well and they are otherwise not very good fins. I tried to like them and used them extensively, enough that I have decided they pretty much suck as fins go. On the other hand, the Scubapro Go-Sport is the BFE (Best Fin Ever). Nearly as light and equally packable, the Deep Six Eddy Flipper is a fine fin for those who need to look techie and 90% frog kick.

Accels, Mares, Slipstream, Eddy Flipper, SP Jet Fin:

ScubaPro Go-Sport fin vs Eddie Flipper fin:

Go Sport vs Accel:

I have sold off everything (or given away) all except for the SP Go-Sports (Gorilla), Accels, DS Eddy Flippers, Mares, SP Jet Fins. The Go-Sports are my universal, do everything travel fin and are currently loaded for Bonaire in May. The Accels are my pool fin. The Eddy Flippers are my expedition/tech fin and are currently loaded in my bag for Florida in two days, the Mares I keep for heavy current diving, the Jet Fins are my cold water heavy suit fin. I sold off the Slipstreams just because and sold all of my spare Jet Fins because it is unlikely I will outlast my current set :(. My last set was 25 yo and still going strong and gave them to a fellow that dives cold lakes. That was five years ago or so making them over 30 yo. If my new set last 30+ years, I will be well over 100 years old. Not sure if I will still be diving then or just hanging around for happy hour.

I have never owned a BC jacket or whatever those padded things are called now. I do currently have five wing/BPs. I have a VDH 23 and a VDH 18 and an Oxycheq 18 on Oxy Ultralite textile plates. I have an Oxy 30 on a Freedom Plate and I have a Dive Rite 45 for doubles on a Hammerhead plate. And I have one military grade SeaTec Seahorse horse collar BC.

Certainly to each his own, but after not being crazy about the Accels at the start, they have now become my favorite fins. For me, they've always been good for frog kicks, but were initially not as great for flutter kicks. I made myself keep using them somewhat out of necessity for travel, and believe I somewhat unconsciously modified my flutter kicking style somehow (in my ankles, I believe) so they work great for me now. Obviously, YMMV.
