Well it would certainly be easy to screw the pooch in the entry cavern type area before the solution tube starts.

The deceased was trained and had over a decade of cave diving experience.
How do you know this?

They were a friend of a friend. A few memorial posts have showed up on my feed
Thanks. Hearsay, actually.
Unfortunately, past history shows that such info is often not at all accurate. An example is the family thinks somebody is highly experienced, and it turns out they are not even certified.
I'll wait for verifiable facts.

I added to the thread because I think there is a conversation to be had about the ratio of untrained vs. trained diver fatalities. It has skewed towards trained and experienced divers in recent years.

I’m not going to reveal the diver to have that conversation though. I didn’t know them personally and it’s not my place to.

I was on the dive. So this is first hand information. The diver was definitely trained with decades of experience. The reports of myself and the other buddy being rescued are incorrect. One buddy exited the cave to call for help and I stayed behind trying to assist however lost him in a silt out twice. I do not know what exactly happened to cause diver to become unresponsive nor does anyone at this point.
