Superb historical timeline assembled by Jeff Bozanic. The links are very useful for side reading.

@Akimbo

If it’s more appropriate, please feel free to move this thread to the History sub-forum. If not necessary to move, please delete this post (#2).

Great article, but it was missing one important date: June 9, 1934 ten years into Helium use by humans as a breathing gas, it is the date of Walt Disney's creating Donald Duck, the voice of Helium users everywhere.

Jeff Bozanic is NOT a scientist. His doctorate is in English literature or something close to it.

"In 1979, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geology,"

"From 1982 to 1984, he attended the University of Miami and conducted doctoral studies in oceanography."

I would class that as a scientist?

Bozanic attended the University of California, Irvine from 1974 to 1977 and in 1978 received an Associate of Arts degree from Santa Ana College in Underwater Technology. In 1979, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geology, and the following year a Master of Arts in Environmental Education, both from Humboldt State University. In 1982, he received a Master of Business Administration in International Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. From 1982 to 1984, he attended the University of Miami and conducted doctoral studies in oceanography. In 2003, Bozanic obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Education from Madison University.

Apparently you are both correct, his PhD is in Education, plus he is a scientist.

If he walks like a duck, and talks like a duck.....

I stand corrected.

I will not divulge the rest of my thoughts on :76feet:this person because if I did, I would likely be banned from this thread.

I didn’t know anything about Jeff Bozanic before posting, I just appreciated the historical value of the tidy timeline he assembled. Wasn’t my intention to press on a nerve.

Mods, ignore this thread. Please. We want to hear the juicy stuff.

"In 1979, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geology,"
This does not make him a scientist, any more than a degree in English Literature makes one a writer.
"From 1982 to 1984, he attended the University of Miami and conducted doctoral studies in oceanography."
But he did not finish. He took some courses. So?
I would class that as a scientist?
Nope.
plus he is a scientist.
Pure assertion.

He is a self-promoter, and has been close to science, and has worked with scientists, but is not himself a scientist. Take a look at his publication history; he has produced nothing original. Being a scientific diver does not make him a scientist.
