FWIW electrolysis has been working wonders. No strong chemicals or acid and everything has come out looking great.

Gonna take a lot of ketchup for this!I find using warm tomato sauce / ketchup. smother the object you want cleaning in the stuff, let it sit for 10-15 minutes in a warm location, soft tooth brush and or sponge will get most tarnish off easily enough
For a wheel, I would just get it blasted. Wouldn't take them more than two hours and it would look like new if that is what you are going for.Gonna take a lot of ketchup for this!
