I have never dove a zeagle BC, although I am interested in the Zeagle Stiletto, it seems to a good travel BC that will also work for NC wreck and quarry diving. My question is in regards to the weight release system. I have dove with an integrated system in a jacket style BC where you pull the weights out, hold them in front of you and release them. The zeagle uses a ripcord system, I was curious how hard it is to re-thread the system for your next dive. I like the simplicity of being able to just slide the weight pockets back. Also, does anyone know of a back inflate BC with a weight release system such as this?

I actually just found the video of how to rethread the system, it looked pretty easy (hopefully I would not need to do it thou), although on a boat it could be slightly difficult.

Hi Scotty,
The ripcord system in the Zeagles is for emergency dumping.....unless you really like restringing the ripcord.. The weight pockets have zippers across the top for normal weight installation and removal. I dove a Ranger for a lot of years and when I sold it, the ripcord had never been pulled. The Zeagle intergration is one of the better ones on the market. Avoid any that use velcro to keep the weights in. Sooner or later the vecro loses it's holding power and starts "auto dumping" weights...usually at the worst time.

Do you plan on dumping your weights on a regular basis? That's the only time you'll ever pull that ripcord. Loading/unloading weights in your Zeagle BC is nothing more than pulling a zipper and dropping them in or taking them out. Personally, if I dive the way I hope to, I'll never have to pull the cord in the life of my Brigade, outside of a training drill.

I do not plan on pulling the cord ever (I know you do not load it that way), but i was just curious if it was an hour job to reset or if it was rather simple.

Aahh, first time it takes a bit, but it gets easier....things to do on a day like yesterday when your bored....I watched Bonaire slideshows on my new TV....I am so in need of warm water.

I think the video makes the case that it's worth a practice run while you're sitting at home. Shouldn't take long after that if you need to do the real deal after a dive.

First time I rethreaded mine (using no directions), it took me 5 minutes to figure it out. Second time, I looked at the directions and with the experience of the first time, it took me no more than 3 minutes.

When my husband got his Ranger LTD, he watched the video and it took him 3 minutes the first time.

I agree a dreary day in NC, I actually surfed the net researching scuba stuff, I about drove my wife crazy (How much is this all gonna cost!!!!)
