I am planning on buying my first BC because i decided the whole BP/W thing wa a little complicated. so in your opinion which is a better all-around bc? Zeagle Stiletto vs. TUSA Pro-Cubic??

help would be appreciated!

You can *not* go wrong with Zeagle... with either the quality, build, functionality of the Stiletto, or with the company itself...

Take a peek at the Zeagle sub-forum on here, for a flavor of what the members here think...

A BP/W is far from being complicated. Basically you have a wing that has drain valve on bottom of the left corner of the wing and corregated hose. Plate that is either Al or steal. Also a harness with 5 d-rings. Sometimes there maybe a single stage adapter (STA) pending on the wing.

In general terms....A wing that has about 30lbs of lift is going to satisfy almost all of the recreational divers using single tank in any temp of water. Tropical diving using an AL80 will probably only require a wing that has 20lbs of lift. A wing that has 40-50lbs of lift is going to satify almost all of the divers using double tanks.

Some people here with start to make it complicated calculations of lift and blah blah blah....but its not.

Stilleto: I have one that is never used by me. I rent it out to divers when I run out of bpw setups. It's an outstanding BC. Has more lift then needed for tropical diving, easy to maintain horizontal bouyancy, minimal padding, virtually useless pockets, sizes run big, adjustable, sewn up well, weight integrated, looks dead when mounted on a tank.

Pro Cubic: I do have a couple of Tusa BC's (selene's) for women that insist on a jacket type. My experience with Tusa's are that they are heavy, very bouyant, well made, lots of padding.

If you are hell bent on a jacket type BC then go with any Zeagle product over Tusa IMHO.

A bp/w is not complicated... I agree to a point. Throw in a crotch strap and the need for a weight belt and the degree of complication goes up a bit. If someone wants pockets and integrated weights the degree of complication goes up a bit more.

Stiletto: The pockets are useful. I have one.

Zeagle doesn't make a jacket style BC.

I tried a dive rite stainless backplate with the delux harness, and absolutely hated it. I love dive rite products, I just didn't like the bp/w it wasn't comfortable to me. I have since spoken with a dive rite rep, who I wish I had spoken to before purchasing all of the gear. The wing I had was alot more than I needed, and I had it supported mostly by my shoulders rather than my hips. I was diving a pro cubic before I purchased the dive rite gear, and I'm still diving it, it's the most comfortable bc I've tried yet.
