I just got a used Ranger (non-LTD), and after reading the manual and the Zeagle web site I'm unclear on the standard weight integration features.

The web site lists these features as standard:
30-lb capacity Ripcord® weight system
20-LB capacity rear trim weight system

OK, I see the Ripcord pockets... and there are other pockets on top of them which you could put non-releasable weights in. But I don't see any kind of "rear" weight pocket on my Ranger or in the manual. Is there supposed to be something back by the tank?

Is the second bullet point referring to the non-Ripcorded pockets that overlay the Ripcord pockets? I could be over-thinking things!

Maybe it means that you can add on the tank band trim pockets? That doesn't sound "standard" though.

Or, is my used Ranger missing parts? Regardless, it looks like a great BCD and I can't wait to try it. (It's also nice when you see a Navy guy on Discovery Channel using one.)

Thanks for setting me straight.

Thanks, that makes sense. :)

The Ranger which I recently purchased new does have the rear trim weight pockets. When I've used them, I've been pleased with the way the BC will float you in the face-up position on the surface. However, the drawback to these pockets, especially if filled, is that they interfere with trying to set the mounted tank into the tank rack at your seat on many, if not most, dive boats. Commonly, the racking arrangement consists of a section of PVC pipe that has been cut on the bias and set into a bracket with a bungee fastener. When the Ranger is properly mounted on the tank, the rear pocket sit too low on the tank to allow the tank to slide fully into the PVC enclosure.

It's been noted that the pockets can be added to models where they are not standard. Can they be temporarily removed from models where they are?

Yep, just remove the top tank band. It's threaded through the pockets, and it's the only thing holding them on.

Move your rear pockets down to the lower webbing. The Ranger has many options for positioning.
