What knife do you use and where do you mount it on a Ranger LTD? I'm looking at two options:

1. Wenoka Squeeze Lock knife (see link)

http://www.deepseeinc.com/products/squeeze_lock.html

and thinking of mounting it on the right side of the BC by screwing the "barnacle nuts" that comes with the knife onto the groumet holes on the BC. Can't do left side since the extra D-ring on the LTD and ripcord tab blocks the placement on the groumet holes on the BC.

2. Option 2 is to get the Zeagle Tool Kit (see link below) without the slate. However, i don't know where to mount this securely on a Ranger LTD without having it dangle from a D-Ring. Cummerbund is out since there is a small key pocket on it in the LTD.

Any ideas? Is there a third option? Thanks much.

Is there a third option?
I have a similar knife, what I did is poke two holes into the left side Bladder keeper just above the "Zeagle" so I can easily pull it downward with my left hand. Being a short knife, it stays out of the way there also.

I considered where you're talking about, but thought that possibly the waist strap would cause interference there both with locating and returning it.

I mounted a UK Remora on the right shoulder strap just below the d-ring. I am left handed so mounted on right. It is out of the way and does not interfere with putting BC on or clipping to d-rings. I can send you a pic if you like..let me know.

I have a knife on my right shoulder strap, zip-tied on there. If you want a pic, let me know.

When I had my Ranger (not the LTD) I removed the plastic accessory thingie-a-bob that is next to the rip cord pull and mounded this knife there.

The plastic accessory thingie-a-bob can be used for putting webbing through it for attaching other things. They are commonly used on backpacks

I'm glad you started this thread. I've been looking at getting a knife or shears for my Brigade and was trying to decide how to mount it. I ordered the Diverite Z cutter and wanted to add either shears or a small knife.

Anyone that has pictures I'd be very interested in seeing the mounts you used.

Has anyone mounted the shears to the shoulder strap? Do they come with a velcro loop to attach to the shoulder straps?

I'll try and take some pics today, if I have time. Zip ties might not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but they get the job done and secure my sheath nicely.

I had this same knife on my Ranger. I had it zip-tied to the inflator hose (which is plenty long enough). I could reach the knife with both hands. I found this an ideal spot for the knife. Having gone to a BP/W, though, I now have my knife on my waist strap.
