i'm considering selling my current BC and getting the express tech..........how much does the deluxe weigh? (i'm sure the padding adds some weight, but how much?) as a lady, am i'm thinking i might be sorry if i don't get the padding.......it pads the shoulders and the back, right? any more input is appreciated too. thx

Adding the padding MIGHT add 1/2 a pound to the BC...

I have used this BC with and without padding, and I prefer the padding - especially diving with only a swimsuit and a t-shirt in the Caymans! It is also worth noting that I did not have to add any additional weight to dive with the pads...

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks Scott. So with the ripcord system on a tech exp deluxe, I should still come in under six pounds, right?

Probably right at 6lbs...it will depend on how many d-rings you add, and how much of the webbing that you are able to cut off once you try it on (which is really ounces that we are talking about at this point). ;)

I have the express tech w/ out the adv. harness and love it. I guess it all has to do with personal preference. Since i do cold water diving i have a thick suite on and don't need the extra cushion. The only think is i need to upgrade the bladder because of the weight i use.

Maybe someone can help with a quick question- My scenario is:

I just bought a used 44 ranger bladder. Except it doesn't come with the valves. Is it easy to get those replaced? I haven't seen them for sale. Thanks for your help!

PS. My wife uses a express tech and she liked the original harness. You can get a pad kit for it. She was concerned that the deluxe would be tight on her chest with the cross latch. Just a thought from the women prospective.
