I got a chance to dive with a back inflation bc and love it a lot more than the jacket sytle. So, now I was looking at getting a Zeagle Escape or a Brigade. I just don't know what the big difference is between the two. So if someone has tried the 2 or has one of them please tell me if you enjoy it. Also, I'm 5'8" 145lbs so what size would I be a small or medium.

I see less and less of the Escape in local stores. I assumed they are phasing that one out? I have a Brigade and like it alot, but would also consider the Stiletto if I were buying new again.

Have you looked at Zeagle's site (www.zeagle.com) or tried a search Brigade, Escape, Stiletto? There is tons of info right here in past threads.

I've been diving the Escape for a while and love it. However, if I had to do it over again, I'd do the Brigade (heavier material, stainless, and *more* D-rings, etc.).

The Brigade is exclusive to ScubaToys. It's a hybrid between the Escape bladder (makes travel packing easier), and the Ranger harness (which is what I miss).

The Stiletto is a similar hybrid, however, I haven't looked into it... yet...

I don't think you can go wrong with either... however, if you have a choice, definitely the Brigade or Stiletto...

Oh... and let them know at Scubatoys that you're a member here... (10% discount)...

Good luck...

PS... at 5'8" you're not a small, probably a medium... (I'm 5'9", 185lbs., athletic build, and I'm a large)

That is mainly why I got the Brigade. Awesome BC, you will not be disapointed.:D

I just ordered my Brigade from Scubatoys to replace my 10 year old Outback that has see better days. I should have it by Friday!

I'm just back from a week of dive vacation in Okinawa, Japan with my new Brigade BC, and it was excellent!! I'm 5' 8" tall and the SM size fits me perfect. Although I dove with just 2mm one-piece wetsuit and the BC doesn't have thick cussion at lumber, the tank always kept on my back firmly and comfortably. The only but tiny concern I had was a relief valve at the left shoulder, which is a bit too such sensitive that even a small pull of the inflator hose dumps the internal air. But it's a good thing at the same time meaning it's so easy to dump the air.

One time I had a chance I need to wait at surface for boat coming from distance, and it was true the back inflator BC is a bit difficult to float at surface in comparison with jacket styled BCs, but it still pushes my upper body high enough once inflated, I felt.

My picture with Brigade is here.

Inflate it fully and lean back and ride the raft.:D

Another idea for you might be the Dive Rite Transpac. I just got one and I am really liking it so far over my Brigade, haven't had it long enough to make a final decision. Here is a pic for comparison between the two:

Brigade & Transpac

Escape if you want to minimize. For recreational diving it's awesome. Checked out the Stilleto and Brigade and would definetly agree they are more robut BC's but am not convinced I need their extra features. While I have neved dived BP w/ wings I imagine the minimalist feel and effeciency which those who own such rigs descibe is similiar to that of the streamlined Escape.

I agree. The escape for the same above reasons.
