Help me I have just brought a Zeagle Tech wing with a 65lb lift bladder which I am extremely happy with, however I would like to know if the wing itself can be attached to a Halycon steel back plate and harness. I am looking at going with the DIR system and this is my main sticking point at present as all of my equipment has allready been changed to suit. I live in the UK and hope this does not cause any further complications to the possible solution.

There may be a couple of ways you can go but it really depends on if you're doing single or double tanks. 65# is alot of wing and without the clips that are on the BC to hold it down it will fold over a single tank. It probably won't work to well with a single tank.

Zeagle does make their own back plates and it should fit your wing but it won't fit other traditional plates that are made for OMS, dive rite, halcyon, etc. This would work fine for you with doubles. You don't need a halcyon plate and harness for DIR. The zeagle plate will work and a harness is easily made yourself. The main thing is that it is a continious peice of webbing with no quick releases. The d-rings should be added as DIR suggests, triglides are recommended but not necessary

JFYI. I think that the zeagle wing is a good wing but a couple of minor points about it are not DIR. The inflator is too long and the inflator pull dump on the inflator is not recommended. As I said, minor points that some can live with and some can't

This is what I did with my old Zeagle (just wanted to see if it would work)-- I took the Bladder off--cut the straps that string through to the Zeagle harness. Then I lined up the bladder to the BP, and marked where the holes in the BP were. After taking out the bladder, I used a Soldering Iron to melt holes on the marked areas. Then I went to the hardwear store bought some Stainless Steel Gromets and some Countersink screws and installed them. Worked great-- as a matter of fact I gave it to a friend of mine that uses it as his primary rig!

At the Long Beach Scuba show I noticed that Zeagle is making a BP design-- they kept the same design of the bladder (straps and all) but they just screwed some bolts into the thread webbing, it looked very looked hokey... I believe putting Gromits in it would be much more secure.

You will then have to replace the dump valve on the inflator to a stanard non dumping sort, and get a shorter length inflator mechinism hose, if you want it to be "DIR".
