Has anyone on here been to the outer islands of Yap (Ulithi atoll, etc.)??

Would like to hear about your experience...

You can get to Ulithi easy enough and there is a small dive op there, but you would need to get a hold of them to tell them you are coming. They are not regularly open...

Only Woolia and Fais have air strips other than that and just village life, no infrastructure. To get to any of the other islands you would need to take the Micro Spirit, that is the supply ship that visits the inhabited islands. To dive would be difficult anywhere other than Ulithi. You would need to stay with a family on any other island. Then you would need to bring your own tanks on the supply ship.

On the other hand...you could hire a liveaboard from Truk or Palau to make an extended excursion if they are able.

I used to work on Palau Aggressor and we did several of these. Ngulu, Sorol, Ulithi, and Fais. Plenty of interesting sites along the way with plenty of pelagic stuff. Always enjoyed exploratory stuff. The further islands (close to Chuuk) like Lamotrek are supposed to have the healthiest coral. The Thorfinn used to do tours out there from time to time but no idea if still does.

Google Thorfinn and contact them to see if they have anything planned.
