Just because IR is "old hat" doesn't mean that it's still not the best choice for an "underwater" computer interface. Bluetooth, IMO, is not a suitable technology.

Can you expand to explain why do you think Bluetooth is not suitable? My Shearwater Predator has so far worked great with bluetooth. If there are any downsides to bluetooth in diving computers I would like to know about them.
