We just returned from our first trip to Cozumel. While we are not seasoned world travelers (yet) we live in West Palm Beach and dive regularly from the Keys on up to Jupiter and have traveled some, so we do have a point of reference for our trip.

Getting There- We flew from Fort Lauderdale into Cancun on Spirit. The ONLY negative part of our trip was Spirit airlines in Ft. Laud. airport, what a fiasco. Once we arrived in Cancun everything was easy. Already had transportation to Playa lined up and they were right on time. The ferry was a breeze and the taxis in San Miguel are plentiful, helpful and were always standard fare.

Wyndham- All inclusive at the Wyndham Resort. The grounds were very clean (which isn't easy considering most people just leave their plates and glasses everywhere). Our room was right on the beach. The beach was sandy and clean, plenty of chairs for all. Service was excellent and always friendly. The restaurants on site had great food (we ate at all three) but you need to make reservations when you first arrive. Buffet dining is the usual, and the food is plentiful.

Diving- Outstanding diving with perfect conditions. The current was mild on every dive, just enough to keep you moving along. Visibility must have been 100 ft +. Palancar caves was my personal favorite. Looking out and down into that cobalt blue abyss at about 90 feet just off the wall was amazing. The health of the reefs was much better than S. Florida, quite the contrast.
Sand Dollar was great and I would recommend them to all, especially if you are staying at Wyndham. It was so convenient to walk the 100 feet from our room to the shop/pier. Boats we were on were not crowded, 8 divers was or max. The mates on the boats even insist on switching your tanks for you! That doesn't happen at home!
Dive masters on all 4 of our dives were great. Clear safety briefing, 40-45 minute bottom time and 40? minute surface interval in between first and second dive.

We also went to the Cenotes on the mainland, Tulum ruins, spent time in San Miguel and Playa. Had a great time at each and getting around is easy...Collectivo is the way to go on the mainland.

Cozumel was great, the locals were great, the diving outstanding and once we get over the post trip depression of coming back to reality we will have to start planning our next trip back......

Thanks for sharing. It's nice to hear something positive for Wyndham lately. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. We've only used SD once a long time ago. We were ok with everything except the short bottom times, however I know what you mean about convience. If/when you return to the island, be sure to try other dive ops, because most all of them can pick you up at the same pier you walked to so close to your room if you return to the Wyndham...
Thanks again for taking the time to share your trip. Continued safe trips and diving to you.
