Looking for a starter camera for my kid. That being said, it is understood that 1. the camera is for a kid, and 2. starter cameras shouldn't cost an arm n a leg.
That being said, I wondering if anybody has a camera laying around that might be willing to part with for a kid. A Pentax K1000, or Cannon AE-1 type, manual SLR would be ideal. A digital would be nice also.

I have an Olympus C-5060 in an Ikelite housing. I'm asking $650. This includes:

C-5060 camera
Ikelite Housing
Ikelite Tray and Handle
Spare o-rings (I think)
Battery Charger
Extra battery
Polarizing filter (land use)
UV filter (land use)
camera bag (land use)
Remote control (land use)
2 1gig CF memory cards

This is a good camera with full manual capability. C-5060's have been going for over $300 on ebay. I would sell the camera separately. It is 5 megapixel with a very wide angle lense that goes to 4x. A good review/description can be seen at C-5060 review.

The housing is a current product (Ikelite part number 6130.61) going for $439 at B&H. It is also suitable for the Oly C-7070. An Ikelite strobe could be added for full TTL flash control.

I have a canon ae-1 program. No underwater use with this but it is a great camera for starting into real photography. make me an offer.

My Pentax K1000 died awhile ago. I have an 80-200 lens, a 50 lens, a holder and a bunch of Cokin filters, small flash and a grungy nylon belt case for the camera and telephoto. If you can get a K1000 body, they're yours.

I've got a working K1000 body, well it worked last time I used it, plus some other stuff for it. I would have to check when I get home.

Might as well chime in...I've got a Canon SD550 (great point and shoot for land, small, compact, takes great pictures) with the Canon WP-DC80

Jenny...I have an old Sea Life 35mm with 2 housings (one with a broken spring for the shutter). It worked fine ~3 years ago when I retired it.

It's yours if you want it.

Edit.....whoops! Sorry...it is a Reefmaster

Jenny, Olympusauctions runs remanafactoured cameras on Ebay, with warrenty's just like new, I just bought my wife a 6.1 MP point and shoot off them for less then $50 bucks, and the UW case for $9.00

Check them out, I've bought a few items off them in the past,. and you get great deals off them
