I want to get an underwater camera set-up for my next dive holiday in April. I've never had one before so this is new to me.

I curently have a Nikon Coolpix L3. There aren't many cases for it, and the one that I found is about the same cost as the camera!

I'm wondering if I should get the case for the L3, or buy a new camera (such as a sea & sea). Scubatoys has some packages that include strobes. I'm not really sure what I want/need so any advice is appreciated.

I'd also consider either a used (but relatively new) Camera/case if anyone is selling one, PM me.

Thanks, Marek

It's called a housing, not a case.

Dedicated housings are not cheap, but they are designed to keep you camera dry.

If your camera performs well on land, it will generally perform well underwater, so you'd be better off just buying the housing.

You can get by without a strobe, so no need to get one right away.

I'm not selling my setup yet, but I might in 6-12 months.
