A combination of:
1) Boring NFL playoff games
2) Skull-crushing migraine
3) spare parts laying around
resulted in a rather Mickey Mouse AD mount for my Canon WP-DC35 housing.
The Inon AD mount for a Fuji Fx-30 camera housing looked like a reasonably good fit on the WP-DC35 if it could be cut down to fit over the lens port. A little work with a hack saw and Dremel and sure enough it does fit quite well, even centers naturally. I had sold the FX-30 and housing, and the buyer didn't want the Inon mount base, so I thought "what the h" and did it. The river by my house is a little cold for diving without a dry suit (probably about 40 degrees) so I have not tried it under water, but I can mount my UCL-165AD and UFL-105 AD lenses. They both vignette badly at 28 mm but only a little at 35 mm - heck, even the mount alone vignettes a little at the lower corners at 28mm - but the 105 AD does give a considerably wider view. I don't know what water will do to the whole optics of the thing. I have barely even figured out the camera so I don't know how much I will try while diving Cozumel next month. A few too many variables while drift diving. And I still desperately want a FIX housing - if they would sell it in the aluminum color of the prototype in the pictures on their Japanese web site I would be unable to resist. I still have 3 weeks to learn the camera better before Coz, and hope to be quite familiar with it for Dauin Philippines in May. Maybe have a FIX housing by then. I would love to try an Inon 28AD WA lens, but the FIX 04 lens costs about the same and appears to give a wider view. And, it might be workable with my old Sony P-100/150 system that I am very familiar with. I understand the 28AD is not compatible with the Sony P-150/MPK-PHB combo. I do more close-up/macro photography than true WA, so what I have may be good enough for a little while.
