Hello, I am trying to work out (as a pre-buoyancy check estimate) how much weight I will be needing with a new doubles configuration:

5mm crushed neoprene drysuit, double steel 104s, s/s backplate, salt water

On other configs, the additional weight that I carry is:

0lbs: double AL 80s, aluminium backplate, wetsuit/hood, fresh water
14lbs: single AL 80, wetsuit/hood, salt water
28lbs: single AL 80, drysuit, salt water
22lbs: single AL 80, drysuit, fresh water

From this I can conclude:

moving from fresh water to salt water reuires an additional 6lbs (more in the red sea!)
moving from wetsuit to drysuit requires an additional 14lbs

My questions would seem to be:
What is the weight difference between AL80s and Steel 104s?
And Aluminium and S/S backplates?
And how much additional weight should be allowed for when the 104s are empty?

thanks very much
Toby

And to answer my own question here (after a little research on another thread )

If I would need 7lbs less weight to move from an AL to a Steel tank, and 6lbs to move from an AL backplate to a steel one, my guess would be:

-20lbs(sic?): double Steel 104s, s/s backplate, wetsuit/hood, fresh water

so, adding 6lbs for the move to salt water and 14 lbs fot the addition of a drysuit, I would end up with something like:

0lbs: double Steel 1042s, s/s backplate, drysuit, salt water

Hmm. Does that sound right?

thanks ;-)
